Haskell Memorial Hospital operates under the guidance of a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board’s six trustees are appointed by the County Commissioner’s Court to act on behalf of all Haskell County residents.
The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month, January through November. All Board meetings are held in the HMH Education Building and are open to the public.

A Haskell County native, Mary Belle grew up in her family’s farming and ranching operation. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Hardin-Simmons University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in PR and Advertising from Texas Christian University.
Mary Belle put her degrees to work for almost a decade in the Texas Metroplex at various for-profit and non-profit healthcare organizations. In 2018, Mary Belle realized she preferred the slower pace and spectacular sunsets of her rural roots, so she returned to Haskell County and accepted a position as HR and Marketing Director for Haskell Memorial Hospital.
In 2021, Mary Belle was named Chief Operating Officer under current CEO Michelle Stevens. In this position, she oversees the day-to-day operations of clinic and hospital departments, while working with stakeholders across the county to serve the communities of our region. In 2022, Mary Belle became a Certified Rural Health Clinic Professional.
Outside the hospital, Mary Belle is the fifth generation to carry on her family’s farming and ranching heritage, alongside her husband and son. She enjoys spending time with her family, watching her toddler explore and learn new things, horseback riding, playing the piano, and being judged by her Corgi, Calamity Jane. And coffee.
Elizabeth Miller, CPA, has served as the consulting Chief Financial Officer for Haskell County Hospital District since 2020. Mrs. Miller graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1997 from Hardin-Simmons University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. In 2000, she obtained a Master of Accountancy from Abilene Christian University, and she has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2002.
Elizabeth and her husband, Aaron, have one daughter, 15-year-old Natalie. The couple supports various non-profit organizations with their time and money. Mrs. Miller serves as treasurer for the Abilene Christian School Booster Club, as well as the Center for Contemporary Arts. She has also served as president for the Abilene Philharmonic Guild for two years. Her hobbies include playing tennis and reading suspense novels, particularly by James Patterson.
Mrs. Miller loves her work as an accountant, particularly in rural healthcare. She understands the vital role rural healthcare, particularly rural hospitals, plays in a small town’s future and survival. Elizabeth is committed to assuring that Haskell Memorial Hospital is fiscally secure so patients and staff can continue to receive and provide the quality healthcare the hospital is known for.
Chief Nursing Officer, Meghan Shelton, is a native and lifetime resident of Haskell County. Raised in Rochester, Meghan graduated from Haskell High School in 2014. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Abilene Christian University in 2018, graduating magna cum laude.
Meghan married her childhood sweetheart, Brett, a Haskell native, in 2018. The couple has two sons, Crew and Cohen. Meghan says spending time with her family is her favorite pastime and chasing two little boys keeps her busy.
Mrs. Shelton has six years of experience in healthcare and has worked at Haskell Memorial Hospital her entire career. She says, “I am proud to say that I am a nurse from Haskell County and have dedicated my career to serving my community and looking after others in their time of need. It is a privilege to give back to the people and place I call home.”
As Chief Nursing Officer, Meghan understands the importance of expanding healthcare services to meet the growing needs of Haskell County and the surrounding region. She states, “I am confident that with the right resources and support, we can make improvements to our healthcare system so we can continue to serve our community to the best of our abilities.”
Board President, Robbie Peiser, is a Haskell County native who was born in Haskell Memorial Hospital. After graduating from Paint Creek High School in 1974, Robbie married Charlotte Hannsz, a Haskell native, in 1976. The couple raised their three daughters, Breann, Bergen, and Lacey in Haskell.
After 40 years of employment in parts management for John Deere dealerships, Robbie is enjoying retirement. He loves doing woodworking in his free time.
Mr. Peiser has served on the Haskell County Hospital District Board of Directors for almost 15 years, serving in the elected offices of Vice-President and President. Robbie states, “I understand the importance of the Board working with the [hospital] administration to ensure Haskell Memorial Hospital continues to serve the medical needs of our county and region.”
Robbie’s vision for the future of the hospital is that it will continue to successfully provide all possible medical services to people of all ages.

Lynn Dale Dudensing was appointed to the Haskell County Hospital District Board of Directors in 2023. Mr. Dudensing has nine years previous experience as a school board trustee for Rule ISD. He previously served as on the pastoral care committee and as a deacon at Abilene Bible Church.
Lynn, or “Lynn Dale,” to those who know him well, is a Haskell County native, born at Haskell Memorial Hospital. He and his wife, Renee, live in Sagerton. Together they have four grown children, Abby, Emery, Molly, and Jenny, and six grandchildren. Lynn assumed management of his family’s farm after the death of his father in 1978. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in 1977 and a Master of Science in 1978, both from Texas Tech University.
In his spare time, Lynn Dale is a self-proclaimed news and current events junkie. He enjoys troubleshooting and fixing a variety of things, including computers and machinery. He derives joy from being able to diagnose a problem or situation. “My faith in the Lord Jesus is often the only thing that makes sense in such a broken world,” he stated. His family is second only to the Lord, and he enjoys time with them. When asked about his vision for the hospital district, Lynn Dale stated his desire is for Haskell Memorial Hospital to be successful.
Elna “Jenny” Camacho was born in Haskell Memorial Hospital in 1984 and was raised in Haskell, where she has lived most of her life. A graduate of Haskell High School, Jenny obtained an associate degree in health information technology from Texas State Technical College in 2012.
Ms. Camacho has one daughter, Rae’lynn, and a son, Langston. In addition to crafting and cooking, Jenny enjoys assisting with activities are children are involved in. She helps coach softball, t-ball, and cheer, along with helping with 4-H and the Haskell Elementary PTO. In addition to her service on the Haskell County Hospital District Board of Directors, Jenny serves on the Keep Haskell Beautiful board. She attends First Baptist Church of Haskell, where she teaches pre-school Sunday school and helps with Team Kids and youth.
Ms. Camacho was appointed to the hospital board in April of 2022. She says she serves on the board because, “I love our community and have a continued interest in doing all we can to make it better, not only for us, but for my children and the generations that will follow.” Her vision for the hospital district is to see it continue to improve the quality of care and services provided to our community and our region.
Darlene Hopkins, a native of Seagraves, TX, has lived in Haskell since 2000. Mrs. Hopkins obtained a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Home Economics from Tarleton State University. She is retired from teaching and formerly served as a County Extension Agent for Family and Community Health in Haskell County. After retirement in 2020, Darlene became certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and works for Haskell County Emergency Medical Services.
Darlene is married to Carl Hopkins and has one son, Colton. She enjoys barrel racing, sewing, baking, and reading. Mrs. Hopkins is one of the newest Board members, having been appointed in June of 2023.
Mrs. Hopkins believes that her time working as a County Extension Agent increased her awareness of how vital it is for the citizens of Haskell County and the surrounding region to have accessible healthcare and medical services. Her goal as a Haskell County Hospital District board member is to help the district navigate the necessary changes that will enable the hospital to continue providing high-quality healthcare in the rural setting.
Reida Mullino Penman is a native resident of Haskell County who was born in Haskell Memorial Hospital. Reida and her husband, Bill, reside in Rochester, TX, where she has lived her entire life. They have four daughters and ten grandchildren.
Mrs. Penman received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University and a Master of Science in Education Leadership. She also holds a Mid-Management Certification. Reida has served in the roles of teacher and principal but is now retired and works occasionally as a substitute teacher. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Reida has served on the Haskell County Hospital District Board of Directors for approximately 15 years. Her vision for Haskell Memorial Hospital is to continue to provide the same high-quality healthcare it has provided for more than 80 years. She is a champion for progress and expanding the hospital’s service lines to provide for the healthcare needs of Haskell County and the surrounding region right here, close to home. Reida says, “It is an honor to serve on the Board, and I appreciate the opportunity to give back to my community.”
